چکیده
Beginning with the “conventional” two-dimensional (2D) quantum wells based on III–V and II–VI semiconductors in 1970s, to recent atomically thin sheets of van der Waals materials such as 2D semiconducting transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) magnets, research is continuously evolving providing new challenges. Magneto-optical spectroscopy has played a significant role this area research, both from fundamental physics technological perspectives. A major challenge TMDCs understand their spin-valley-resolved implications computation information research. Since discovery valley Zeeman effects, deep insights into spin-valley heterostructures have emerged through magneto-optical spectroscopy. In Perspective, we highlight magneto-optics many milestones interlayer excitons, phase control between coherently excited valleys, determination exciton-reduced masses, Bohr radii binding energies, optically bright dark trions, other many-body species biexcitons phonon replicas TMDC monolayers. The discussion accompanies open questions, challenges, future prospects field including comments involving magnets.

Band offsets and heterostructures of two-dimensional semiconductors
The band offsets and heterostructures of monolayer and few-layer transition-metal dichalcogenides MX2 (M1⁄4Mo, W; X1⁄4S, Se, Te) are investigated from first principles calculations. The band alignments between different MX2 monolayers are calculated using the vacuum level as reference, and a simple model is proposed to explain the observed chemical trends. Some of the monolayers and their heter...

The heterostructured configuration between two-dimensional (2D) semiconductor materials has enabled the engineering of the band gap and the design of novel devices. So far, the synthesis of single-component topological insulator (TI) 2D materials such as Bi2Se3, Bi2Te3, and Sb2Te3 has been achieved through vapor phase growth and molecular beam epitaxy; however, the spatial controlled fabricatio...
متن کاملThickness Considerations of Two-Dimensional Layered Semiconductors for Transistor Applications
Layered two-dimensional semiconductors have attracted tremendous attention owing to their demonstrated excellent transistor switching characteristics with a large ratio of on-state to off-state current, Ion/Ioff. However, the depletion-mode nature of the transistors sets a limit on the thickness of the layered semiconductor films primarily determined by a given Ion/Ioff as an acceptable specifi...
متن کاملTwo-dimensional layered semiconductor/graphene heterostructures for solar photovoltaic applications.
Schottky barriers formed by graphene (monolayer, bilayer, and multilayer) on 2D layered semiconductor tungsten disulfide (WS2) nanosheets are explored for solar energy harvesting. The characteristics of the graphene-WS2 Schottky junction vary significantly with the number of graphene layers on WS2, resulting in differences in solar cell performance. Compared with monolayer or stacked bilayer gr...
